Nathan's First Trip to the Hospital

On Friday, I picked up my little angel from his Nonnie's and he officially had his first cold. On one hand, Nathan has had 8 months without even a sniffle. On the other, I had hoped to avoid sickness for much longer. Nathan (and his parents) enjoyed very little sleep on Friday night but Saturday turned out to be worse. Not only did we have a sick baby but for the first time our house alarm went off at about 12:30am - the living room motion sensor detected someone (that's another post for another time). We called the doctor at about 11:00pm on Saturday night and as you'd expect there wasn't much we could do to help Nathan.

After Nathan woke up from his nap on Sunday afternoon he was having heavy and prolonged chest congestion. We called the doctor again and after listening to Nathan's breathing over the phone she advised us to take him to Albany Medical Center.

The doctors prognosis - an upper respiratory infection and we should expect it to get worse before it gets better. They didn't feel medication was appropriate at this point and advised us to wait it out. Easy for us - not for Nathan.

This was one milestone I would have preferred to delay.

Oh my heart! It's hard to see our children sick, I know. In Gabe's first year, he had heart surgery and recurring hospital stays for urinary tract infections -- he had Grade 5 kidney reflux. I know how exhausting it can be!

I am sending along all our heartfelt wishes for Nathan's speedy recovery!

Big hugs!

Poor little guy! And poor Mom and Dad! But, he looks like he was a great patient, and he still looks adorable! I hope that this passes quickly for all of you!
