Nathan is Hebrew and means "gift from God" - we couldn't have been more blessed than to have been chosen as his parents!

Thank you for keeping up-to-date with Nathan. We hope you visit often and enjoy experiencing our son's journey as much as we do. Please feel free to leave comments.

We love hearing from everyone!!!!

Mommy's First Week Back at Work

Well, what can I say? It's hard to be in the office wondering how Nathan is doing - is he eating ok, is he feeling ok, and I hope he's not getting sick.

Yesterday was my first official day back at the office and Nathan had a rough day at his Aunt Kathy's house. He was fussy, crying a lot and not eating well. We think he had a little stomach issue (like many of us these days) because when I picked him up after work he pooped twice and then was back to his happy little self. I can't tell you all what it means to me to know that Nathan is being cared for by people who love him. It's difficult to imagine him with strangers at such a young age and it made coming back to the office easier.

I have to share this with you all because its too funny -- My sister takes Emily to story time each Monday at the library and this week Nathan came along. And, as they were on their way home Nathan began crying. At which point, Emily started to cry because Nathan's cries were hurting her ears. My poor sister had to drive home with both kids crying! Well, if this episode did anything it cemented her decision that one child is enough for their family!

Pray next week is better for them!

Today, Nathan is with Nonnie and is doing much better. He had a visit from his Great-Aunt Sandy and Rosa. I'm sure they all had a great time. I wish I had been there to take pictures.

Nathan's Second Month Birthday!

I really can't believe that Nathan is already 2 months old today! This picture was taken on Nathan's very first visit to his grammy's house. This is the infamous diaper change position after he just ate -- someone holds him up while the other changes him! :-)
He went to see the doctor this week for his first round of immunizations and it didn't go as planned. Nathan was suppose to received 3 shots and the first two shots he did great! No tears! His third and what was suppose to be his final shot met us with cries but only for about 45 seconds! What a little trooper our son is! But, just as I was dressing him the doctor came back in the room to deliver the not so good news - he had just given Nathan a shot of saline!!!!! Apparently his assistant did not mix the vaccine with the saline as the doctor had thought. So, our little one had to endure yet another shot but I am happy to report he did not suffer - in fact he didn't even get red in the face!

Nathan is up to 8.1 pounds and is now eating 3 1/2 ounces per bottle and unless necessary we don't have to return for another two months! YIPPEE!!! He is also now 21 inches long!

I also had a check-up this week and beyond the 15 pounds I still have to lose things are fine here too. I have been cleared for intense gym rat training, which includes some belly dancing!

Nathan is doing well with his therapists sessions - feeding is still a challenge but he is improving each and every day. Instead of actually sucking on his bottle - Nathan is now using his jaw to extract the formula. However, one of the greatest things about children is their ability to learn quickly -- so I'm sure this will end shortly. We are doing some mommy and daddy tricks to help him along.

Nathan also had his pictures taken on Friday - if you'd like one please let me know what size and I'll order it. I'll be doing that this week.
