Walking The Walk

This morning, I enjoyed a facial and reached a mommy milestone completely unrelated to my pours.

While sitting and waiting to be taken in for my facial - a young woman came out and asked my name. When I responded, she looked at a list of names and then crossed something out as she said "Oh, I am such a retard!" YIKES! The "R" word. What do I do? I immediately said to her: " I doubt that you're a "r." She responded by saying something about seeing two names but was wrong. Since when does being incorrect about something make a person call themselves a "r"?

Needless to say, I was irritated and then I found out she was giving me my facial! Oh crap - now, what do I do? As I was changing into my robe, all sorts of things were going through my mind. Should I simply leave? Run away ~ not on your life. I couldn't let it slide because I'd be irritated the entire time and if this was someone else, I'd say: man up and say something. So, I had too.

When I walked out of the restroom, I quietly said: "I want you to know that I was very offended by what you said. I have a son with Down syndrome and that just wasn't right." She said, "I knew the minute I said it, I shouldn't have and I'm sorry." That was the end of it. I enjoyed my facial immensely and she was at ease. She won't forget today and the world is a little bit better because of it.

Spring Is In The Air

Our family has been enjoying the nice weather the past couple of days! Like most of you, we've been cleaning up the yard and trying to stay outside as much as possible. This was the first time I took Nathan's walker out on the patio and he thought it was his job to walk into each and every pile I tried to sweep up! It got to the point where I was using the big push broom to hold him off so I could try and pick up the leaves! :-)

Today, we took a nice long walk to the lake by our house. We are really fortunate to have this little slice of heaven just three blocks away.

Chopper comes with us too and after two laps around the lake I decided his little legs had enough. He gladly accepted a ride for the last mile and a half. So, cute!

He is such a good boy!

This lake also has a nice little park so Nathan gets to go on the swings too! Fun for everyone!

Easter ~ Karaoke Style

The Terry Family had a wonderfully blessed and busy Easter! We started at Church where Nathan wanted to hang out with his second cousin ~ Mike. Nathan spent the service rubbing his head ~ it was so cute!
After church we had breakfast with my family and then headed to see Nathan's Aunt Kathy and Emily.

We topped off our day with a delicious Easter feast at Nonnies with the remainder of our family. Nathan enjoyed hanging with his cousin Lily.

We ended our day with karaoke ~ family style!!! There was much better footage but I didn't get it in time!!! hahahaha
