Nathan is Hebrew and means "gift from God" - we couldn't have been more blessed than to have been chosen as his parents!

Thank you for keeping up-to-date with Nathan. We hope you visit often and enjoy experiencing our son's journey as much as we do. Please feel free to leave comments.

We love hearing from everyone!!!!

We've Been Morphed By Disney!!

You all remember last week, I took Nathan and Emily to the Disney train? Well, what I didn't tell you is that at the end of the train there were television/photo booths that allowed you to take your picture and morph it into one of the characters! It was very cool. Nathan had his picture done first and what a challenge that was! I had to hold him without being in the picture and then make sure I wasn't int he picture while trying to get him to look into the camera mounted on the wall!! I took some time but we did it! I really tried to morph him into Tiny Tim but it just didn't work with the angle of his picture.

As you can see, we ended up morphing him into the Scrooge's Ghost of Christmas Past character! Certainly, not my first choice for my little man but it was the only one that worked!!!!
This was our princess Emily's choice ~ I did a little research and I think this character is ~ Belle. Belle was Scrooge's girlfriend who broke off their relationship because she believed that he had believed he had changed into a person she no longer could be with. In the movie, we are introduced to her during his Ghost of Christmas Past experience where she's very happy and surrounded by her adorable children.
Of course I had to try too! This is me ~ Scrooge! Unlike Emily, I didn't age well! hahaha

Buddy Walk ~ Here We Come!!!

The Buddy Walk is Sunday and Team Terry's balloons have arrived!! I can't wait to see the strong Team Terry presence at the walk ~ Nathan truly has a HUGE team just seeing the sea of balloons is going to be very moving.

I purposely had these balloons made in red so they don't match anything at the walk! I wanted them to stand out ~ I wanted Nathan's support system to be obvious and it will be!

I would like thank all of you that are attending, volunteering and those of you that have sent and collected pledges on behalf of the Resource Center. I'll post about the amount of money raised on behalf of Nathan and in general but I can tell you right now ~ it's substantial. Our friends and family stepped it up! YOU ARE ALL AWESOME!!! Thank you for loving our family and supporting Nathan.

Funny story about why men generally don't dress children. As I did last year, I had Nathan's Buddy Walk shirt made ~ the preordered shirts are way too big for him. This year, it took some time for the employees behind the counter to get the airbrushing machine to work so I decided to go for coffee.

When I returned, the employee said, the shirt was ready and this is what he gave me (see below pic) ~ notice anything funny? The logo is on the back of his shirt ~ not the front ~ where it should have been!!

When I pointed this out to the kid behind the counter he said that his boss told him that was the front because the buttons were there! Most guys don't wear turtlenecks so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt! :-)

We got it right now!

Nathan might just dance through the Buddy Walk! If you notice a little jumping in the camera, it's me laughing!!

The Adirondack Balloon Festival

Saturday morning, the Terry Family headed north to the Adirondack Balloon Festival. There was a scheduled launch of 90 hot air balloons for 6:30am so we were up long before dawn ~ the event was about an hour from our house. As we approached the airport, where the event was taking place, we saw this ~ tons of very cool balloons and fog as thick as molasses! This was the balloon that greeted us once we arrived. It wasn't just early but very cold ~ 40 degrees! We were all bundled up.This is the Nemo balloon ~ it's a great example of how thick the fog was ~ we are standing right next to it!! For safety reasons, they ended up canceling the launch. So, we went inside the airport hanger for breakfast. Once we'd finished, the fog had lifted and we were able to see a few more balloons.
Emily really thought it might be fun to take a ride in one of these balloons ~ right up until the minute she stood next to one and the operator pulled the fire lever!!! It scared the living day lights out of us all. She no longer thinks that's such a good idea ~ in fact she keeps her distance now! :-)

We'll try again next year!

The Disney Train

I feel like an absentee blogger! I've been so busy lately, that I'm not giving Nathan's blog the attention it deserves. The Buddy Walk is less than one week away and I'm super busy planning, school started back up a few weeks ago, I've been visiting toddler programs, and our family is preparing for a major transition. I don't have the time to elaborate on any of this now but will over the course of the next few weeks. This week our area welcomed the Disney train! The train was promoting the newest Disney movie ~ "A Christmas Carol" (click here to see the tour and if the train may be in your neighborhood). The movie is scheduled to be released late November.

Emily is catching snow in this next picture ~ the soapy suds variety! What's Christmas without snow!

The train was very neat ~ filled with state of the art technology that wasn't for small children. It was a "movie trailer" suited for older children and adults.

On our way out of the station, Nathan had his first taste of cotton candy! As you would imagine, he loved it!!
